TRV for Spouse, advice from expereinced members

Hey
I have sponsored my husband and the wait is so long that we have decided to apply for a visitors visa.
I realize that it is VERY difficult for him to get this visa. However we are gonna take our chances and hope for the best.
What I want to know is can you please let me know the dos and donts of this process.
Also if there is anything else I can add to make my case stronger please do suggest.

I have sponsored my husband to Canada and our file is in the London visa office since July 2012
He has been living in in the EU for about 6 years now and has their PR card however his passport is Pakistani.
He is currently working and does have sufficient money in his account. He also got a letter from his employer confirming he is an employee at that company. Other than that he has a lease signed for his house for a year (which ends in April 2013).
Also he has traveled a lot within the EU and London, England as well.
Do give any suggestions you can
