Hi All,

My father in law applied for a TRV online from India on Sep 4,2016. He is yet to hear anything . Anyone else who is still waiting from Sept first week. Read few articles online that Indian Army officers were denied TRV around 2010-2011, hope that is all sorted out now-anyone with any information regarding it.

Will contacting the embassy help?

Kindly advice.

Regards,
Prayas

Hi Prayas,

The processing times stated on the IRCC website are only estimates. Your FIL's application has not exceeded this time + there were a number of holidays too. You may not get a response if you contact the visa office shortly.

There's a strong possibility that background checks are being conducted as your FIL retired from the defense services. This means processing time can take longer..... unless your FIL had visited Canada/US after he retired/in the last 10 years

Cheers

My father is retired police officer and he is retired since 10 years. He applied on August 23 and it's still in process.
He had visited Canada in 2000 during his job as well as after his retirement, still it's taking long time, way over than estimated time. Infact he got last TRV after retirement and then they did lot of background check because they asked for contact from every place he was posted and then he was granted visa. This time, no communication at all.

As he had visited Canada earlier (even though it is not in the last 10 years), his chances of getting a TRV are good.

CIC is probably running new background checks

There are Diwali holidays coming up. So hope he gets his visa soon :)

Last time he visited in 2007, just for 10 days, which was 9 years ago. They( my parents) are coming for wedding in mid November, if they don't get visa in time, then there is no point to come..Hope they move the file soon.
Will inquiry from MP make difference? Any idea?

No - it won't.

You could send a CSE + an email to the relevant visa office (although it is an online application which could be processed anywhere in the world).

Do include evidence of the wedding (again) + flight tickets (if booked) + request the visa office to let you know if they require any additional information to make expedited decisions.

Even if the visa office sends passport requests before Diwali..... passport transmission will be delayed because Blue Dart is closed for much longer than the visa office/VAC

I had opened CSE and sent to visa office( since it was paper application), no response yet. I don't know should we open another one?

We do not want to book the flights yet , first its not guaranteed if they will get visa or they will get visa on time...cancelling the tickets cause more money.

Did the processing time exceed IRCC website estimates when you sent the CSE?

Sending another CSE so soon will not help. Maybe you can send an email to the relevant visa office
