TRV for Parents

Hi all,

I am applying for TRV for my parents to visit for a month or two. I moved to Canada from USA on PR this year in June and started working as independent contractor. I make around CAD10k a month excluding taxes and both of my parents have a US visa valid until 2025. Now that we have the context set up, here are my questions:

1. I'm claiming in my invitation letter that I will be taking care of all expenses including flights, meals and lodging. Is CAD10k a month salary sufficient for demonstrating this? I'm planning to attach last 3 bank statements which show my bank balance to be between 10k - 20k after monthly expenses. Would this work?

2. When I started the online application for parents, it only asks for IMM5257, IMM5707, IMM5713, Schedule 1 IMM5257, Travel history, Passport, Digital Photo, Marriage certificate and client information. So should I attach my invitation letter and all other documents such as bank statement, PR Card copy, etc as a single PDF in Client Information section?

3. The application doesn't ask specifically for any financial documents from my parents, should I still attach things like property documents, their bank account statements, their work status (dad is retired but works as high court advocate)?

4. My parents don't have a marriage certificate, but they'll attach an affidavit in place of a marriage certificate. Would that be okay? Should I attach a letter of explanation as well?

Finally, does this letter look okay?

Subject: Letter of Invitation for Parents Mr. XXXXX and Mrs. XXXXX

I, [ME] born on [DOB], Son of Mr. XXXXX and Mrs. XXXX, currently a Permanent Resident of Canada and working as a XXXX Consultant with XXXX, would both like to invite my parents to visit me at my place of residence in XXXX, British Columbia.

I moved to XXXXX, BC from XXXXXX, XX, USA for a new job in June of 2019 and have yet to explore British Columbia’s incredible natural beauty. I wanted to invite my parents so that we could visit places like Stanley Park, Vancouver Island, Whistler and Glacier National Park. I also plan to take them for whale watching, hiking and Peak 2 Peak Gondola ride.

I will be taking care of all expenses including lodging, meals, air travel, transportation, medical or any other expenses incurred during their trip. I plan on hosting them at my residence in XXXXX, BC and my monthly salary of CA$10,000 would be sufficient to cover our expenses. Tentative travel dates for my parents is set between XXXXXXX and XXXXXXX.

In addition to the visa application documents, please find the following documents attached with this letter:

· Information about guests (parents) and host (me)

· Copy of my Permanent Residence Card

Sincerely,

@Bryanna has left the forum for the past couple of months for personal reasons. Unsure when or if she will return.

Your parents must show that they can finance their own trip using their own fees so transferring a chunk of money before application won’t work. They will also have to show strong ties to their home country. Have they actually visited the US? If so that would help to establish a pattern of short visits with return to their home country.

Hi @sleekstrike , I am in the same boat as you. Interested to know how did you explain about your employment position (being an independent contractor)? I am thinking of submitting my business incorporation docs + the bank statements showing money that I pull out from business acc into personal acc every month for my financials here.

Also, hoping @Bryanna and/or @canuck78 can shed some light on showing proof of employment /income as independent contractors (incorporated) in Canada when inviting parents from India on TRV.

Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

For a TRV it is the applicants ties and financial situation which is important not yours. The other important thing is to show that you have established yourself in Canada before inviting your parents so it doesn’t appear or they don’t move to Canada with you.

Or is it just one? and if just one can somebody please tell me which one? for now all I have is IMM5257. Any info will be helpful. Thank You
