Hi.
My wife and I got Canadian PR under FSW program last year. We landed in Toronto in apr 2018 and returned after a weeks time. Our son was born in Aug 2018 in India. Currently I work in the middle east and we plan to relocate next year.

1. Am I eligible to sponsor my child (1 year old) staying out of Canada?
2. If not in what Visa should I be taking him? Is it a temporary resident visa?

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

1. No. Either you or your wife must be living in Canada to qualify to sponsor your son.
2. You should apply for a TRV. There's about a 50/50 chance of approval. If the TRV is refused, you should try applying for a TRP. If that is also refused, either you or your family will have to travel to Canada ahead of the rest of the family to submit the sponsorship application and wait out processing in Canada. Application processing will take 6-8 months.

Hi.
Thank you for your reply on the thread.
Will you be please able to throw information for the following queries as well.
I am a dentist right now working in mideast. I took up a job here basically to fund for my registration exams in Canada which is quite expensive and also to be in the trade up until I get registered.
I am planning to relocate in Mar 2021 after my contract ends here. By then my wife and I would've already covered 3 years out of Canada since our soft landing in Apr 2018.. Meanwhile I plan to travel for my exams (2 visits) in 2020.
I was thinking of travelling with family for weeks time during my visit for exam.
1. Should I be mentioning all these in my LOE when I apply for my infants TRV
2. Do I have to open a new account in the name of my son and apply on his behalf?
3. If issued what is the likely time frame of TRV ( eg 6 mo, 1 year etc)
4. Can I apply for a TRP directly? - I couldn't find any link
5. Usually what all docs will they ask for? ( My family who are currently with me is going on vacation coming month to Ind and is planning to apply from there. Will I have to submit letter from my employer and so?
Thanks in advance.

You need to apply for TRV with LOE(letter of explanation for reasons stating why child needs to stay with parents and why was he born outside Canada). As per the trend, you will be asked to apply for TRP by paying 200 CAD and you will have to get medical done for your baby.

I am in a similar situation and am being asked to apply for TRP. Below are the catches in TRP -

1. It is in general a single entry VISA
2. There is an expiry date before which you have to enter (My friend got an expiry date of 6 months in his baby's TRP)
3. Duration of stay under TRP depends upon immigration officer and you might have to apply for extension (before 1 month of TRP end date) to continue your stay for the time your PR sponsorship for baby is not completed

Hope this helps

much thanks for the info.
I Understand that we can hear from the visa office in 21 days what the outcome of TRV is when we apply from India and if
TRV is rejected we apply for the TRP. usually how long will it take to process the TRP?
what all documents we need to submit for 1. TRV and 2. TRP?

REGARDS.

I will suggest you apply from middle east as chances of atleast TRP being offered (even if TRV is rejected) are more here.

I applied for TRV in Kuwait and it took me 44 days (which was correct as per the below link) to get response and to pay fee 200 CAD and medicals within 15 days

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

I think they will again take the same amount of time to issue TRP as well

Documents I submitted along with the application to VFS were salary certficate, bank statement, my and spouse PR card copies, LOE, passport of baby, parents passport copies, baby photographs (I think 2 photographs), our Kuwait national ID copies.

For TRP, I have been asked to send via email the receipt for 200 CAD fee and to undergo medical for baby.

Thank you. Are you awaiting the TRP or already received?
If it is a single entry permit wouldn't it be wise to apply say 2-3 months before we plan to relocate?
do we have to submit medical for both TRV and TRP?
Incase will they accept the same report?

I am to revert to the immigration office with requested document for TRP by 27th Sep.

Its too much of a risk to wait and apply as if refused, one of the parents will have to stay oustside canada with baby till the time PR process is completed for baby

HI Bro. Were you able to secure TRP for your Kid? Appreciate if you can share your experience.
