Hello,

I had a study permit that expired in August, but I got an extension before it expired, and it is now valid till February 2023. I did not think of applying for TRV at the time, but I needed it now, so I applied on September 7. Now, I completed all the program requirements, and I got the completion letter. My question is: can I apply for PGWP while I am waiting for my TRV? Or would this cause the TRV to be rejected since it is based on my study permit?

Thanks

Yes you can apply for PGWP. I would update your application for TRV application via general webform stating that you’ve graduated and have applied for PGWP and you can also include proof of your application for PGWP if you want. It can take a while for you to get AOR for PGWP and in general no harm pointing out that you are now applying for PGWP although the information can be found in your file once you get AOR.

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean that they will still issue the TRV for me? I am afraid that since I am no longer a student they will let me wait for PGWP approval which takes 5 months on average.
