Got US B1/B2 visa first time I applied but when I applied for a Canadian visit visa, was denied the first time- reason no ties from where I applied, US. I applied for a visit visa once I got back to the Philippines and was granted one. They look at the "ties" that you have. In the US I was a tourist and the officer did not believe I will go back to the US even when I showed him my return ticket which would be from the US. In the Philippines I have a good job to go back to, so that probably is the reason I was approved for the visa. Canadian visa officers look for "ties", something that would make the applicant want to go back to once the allowed visit is over.

I am not really sure if it does help.. but you can try..

I know how frustrating it is.. my parents were denied too, twice.. just because their only travel history is going to Thailand.. We are trying to find some ways on how they can get into Canada.. We might try to apply for a US tourist visa.. then from US we'll try to apply for a Canadian tourist visa..

What I dont understand is she was able to get a visa going to UK but was denied a Canadian visa? Isnt the computation for the cost of living higher in UK than in Canada?

Sometimes it does not happen that way.. Both my parents are government employees. My dad even has travel documents signed by the Department of Transportation and Communication because he works at the Airport. My mom is a college professor teaching in one of the state university in the Philippines. Both have strong "ties" as both are still working and not yet of retiring age.. although they can be considered part of the early retirees.. both are 54 years old..

We have documents showing that they have this x-amount of cash and other assets that could support them on their visit to Canada.. Plus my Aunt has sent them an invitation letter stating that she'll shoulder the cost of their stay.. she even included her bank statement in the invitation letter..

I guess my parents were not that lucky at the time they applied.. It all depends on the visa officer

The process is nothing but a lottery. The people that don't really have plans to return to their home country will show the visa officers everything they need to see. In some cases fraudulent documents. These visa officers think they are smart but I think they are just stupid. Common sense is what they ought to use but I think that is seriously lacking.

Have you changed the applications before resubmitting?

Four times, you must like spending money.

Every time I applied there is a change of situation
so the applications change.

I want these CHC ND B"""""RDS to say "no" to me
and let them feel the guilt!

hi everybody..i just been to canada for 52 days...it's a beautiful country and it's a dream came true..i was denied a trv last year cause of regulation 179..what i did was i applied a u.s.visa with multiple reentry and i did get a 10 yr.multiple visa and after a month i applied for a trv for canada and they gave me 6 months..but i wasn't able to travel last june until oct14,2011..but i submitted more supporting documents like bank statement of my husband and his salary certificate because before i just submitted my bank statement and his no objection letter and a hotel booking..so i think what the cic needs is a strong proof that you're coming back and not stay in their country illegaly..

There is no guilt being felt at CHC ND.
