Hi guys,

My bf's visa got denied for the following reasons:

- I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179 (b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

On the letter, the purpose of his visit was mentioned as he will be coming to tour around toronto, visit me and my family and also to visit my students here. I am a vocal teacher and he is a pianist in chennai india as well so I am thinking, do they think that he will be working for me since I stated that he will be coming to visit my students as well, even though his purpose was just to visit?
If so, how can I respond back to this when I reapply?

- I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179 (b) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

I totally agree to this because it was our fault for not providing bank statements and property statements. We have only provided employment letter with details of his salary and 4 months of pay slips. And I have put 1,500 CAD on his visa application as funds for the 2 weeks trip which clearly did turn out to be a problem.

Now for financial statements, how many months of bank statements should he provide and how much funds should he bring for the 2 week trip? What other documents besides the employment letter and pay slips can I provide to make my application stronger once I reapply?

In terms of personal assets, my bf does not own a property. Will giving his parent's property asset documents help to show that is where he is residing? Or it has to be his own to show that he is independent? What other personal assets can he provide since he does not have his own property?

Any assistance would be really appreciated ! :) @Bryanna @Leon @scylla

Canada
Saying he will visit your students likely made the visa officer think he was coming to work.

Did you also say he was your boyfriend? Without assets and funds in India, they will think he is coming to marry you and will be in high risk to not leave.

Yes :( so im not sure how to clarify to them that it is just for visiting purpose and nothing else. Do you know what i can say in my explanation when applying for the second time?

And no when I applied , i did not state he was my bf. I applied as a friend because our situation is complicated at the moment. And yes i totally agree that funds and assets are very much needed! Do you have any recommendations on what i can submit for financial and property assests to make application stronger in my case?

1. How long did he want to visit and which month?

2. Is he employed? Or does he give private piano lessons?

3. His financial situation? Financial investments? Does he pay taxes or below the taxable limit?

4. No, he cannot include his parents' properties and assets in his application.

5. Are his parents dependent on him financially or for their well-being?

6. Has he traveled to other visa-required countries?

7. Can he prove he has compelling reasons to leave Canada at the end of his visit?

Hi Bryana,

1) He wanted to visit me for 2 weeks and initially it was for end week of march to first week of april which has long passed.

2) He is an engineer, a programmer analyst at Cognizant. He has been employed for 2 years now. He doesnt teach piano but he is certified and a part time performer in india as well.

3) Well as an engineer he gets paid pretty well there but ofcourse its not equivalent money wise to how it is in Canada though. The average he gets paid per month is around 27,200.00 ruppees which is quite much there but only $524.47 here in Canada :$ At the moment, he has around 2,500 CAD saved in his account for the trip. But including his april allowance, he'll have around 3000. Would that be enough for 2 weeks? I have created an itinerary and so far excluding the ticket which is already bought ( i know that was another mistake but thankfully his ticket is refundable) , it comes to a roughly estimation of $830.00 CAD with all the food, tourisim tickets and extra expense he will be investing in which leaves him to $1,670 as balance. Shelter wise he will be staying with me. And yes he pays tax. We didnt provide them bank statements or bank balance proof so i feel like that is one major red flag to the application. Is there a certain amount of months i should submit and what else documents can i provide for financial proofs?

4) okay perfect! Good thing you have notified me :) Since he doesnt have any property of his own there, what can i use to show proof of personal assets? Would vehicle be included?

5) No, his father owns a business so they are perfectly dependant on their own.

6) No travel history, only within india

7) Yes I was thinking about including his leave permission letter for only 2 weeks because he needs to return to work and future shows that he has signed up for that acquires him to be there since he is very involved with his community and also is in the works of composing for different projects.

Okay

From your previous post (and possibly in his visa application too) it seemed like he only gives piano lessons for a living.

Cognizant pays far better than this. So, are you referring to his Cognizant salary or his earnings as a piano performer here?

Or is he working on a contract or as an outsourced employee from another company at a Cognizant office?

If this is his Cognizant salary then he's probably too junior in the organization = He does not have any strong employment ties.

Do NOT apply if this is his bank balance/liquid funds. Not even if it is CAD 5-7,000.

Answered.

Vehicle, loans, mortgage (if applicable) can be included as reasons to return.

Okay. Then these won't help.

Such as?
