Hello,

I am looking to see if we can submit the TRV application at buffalo without a passport and later send the passport only for stamping? Has anybody done this before?

I will be travelling back and forth to US for work and cannot afford to stay without my passport for 2-4 weeks. My canadian lawyers tell me that I cannot go to Seattle for stamping since the process has been changed!!

Somebody please advise.

Yes you can but it still might take a couple of weeks to get your passport back. But question, how are your going to be travelling back and forth to the US if you need a TRV for Canada? That doesn't make sense to me.

The application that was sent to Buffalo without the passport has been returned back!! I am really frustrated. Why does it really take 30 days to print a visa on the passport? I already have a valid work permit

I can travel between US and canada with a valid work permit even though my visa has expired. It is based on the naftaa agreement.

Can somebody tell me if I can go to Seattle for stamping? My lawyer tells me that it will take approximately 30 days to get my visa stamped even with valid papers!!

NO. You can read for yourself on their website. And it takes 30 days because they are BUSY. Buffalo is the busiest visa office for Canada in the world. You might want to try LA office. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/los_angeles/visas/apply-how_a_demande-comment.aspx?lang=eng&view=d

It won't be same day processing but could be just a couple of days.

Thanks a ton Jessome. I will explore LAX consulate option. Seattle would have been the best since I travel to Seattle every week but I will take LAX :)
