Hi,
I need a little help here on dual intent before the PR application also. Hopefully some experienced members with China application knowledge can respond.
I think my situation fits for dual intent, but am worried about how it may be viewed. I married last year a woman from China and now have a new step-daughter also who is 17. I am a citizen of Canada. We are applying for my step-daughter to study at university in Canada. So this is a Study Permit/TRV. She is accepted at university already and will likely get a small scholarship. She is stating in her application she wishes to go back to China after her studies and work there. And she may very well do this. Currently her family is all there - mother, grandparents etc. But she will come to stay with me to save on accommodation costs while at university. I am her step-father and will be her "Custodian" - required for a minor. So it will be clear that while she has family in China, she also has family (me and her younger step-siblings) here. Also, my finances are necessary to pay her university (higher fees because an International Student) so I think this may have to be declared to show proof of funds.
My wife and I are intending to, but have not yet applied for PR status - instead we are waiting for the Study Permit application and until our daughter turns 18 in a few months. That is another story - we could not get the "other" parent - her father - to sign the required form allowing immigration of her as a minor. So later when we do the PR application there will be two applications - both valid intents, therefore "dual intent". One to study and one to immigrate. We are hoping that the PR is approved and our daughter can continue to study, but at half the tuition.
I guess my main concern is with the Study Permit/TRV, right now. What can we do to help in any way with our application to be approved - given the situation as it is?
The funny thing (sad funny) thing, is that we of course want to do everything right to ensure our applications are approved. Sure, we will all want to live together here eventually. But we will play by the rules. The rules just seem kind of arbitrary sometimes and bureaucratic. And it seems there is a real "seeking to deny" in the TRV application reviews. As a Canadian in the process I find this kind of disturbing.
