Well, I have now missed the wedding and still haven't heard. Any update on your application?

Nope, nearly 6 weeks since I applied and nothing! It’s ridiculous that you can’t contact anyone. They should be more realistic when publishing processing times.... terrible service

Sorry to hear that; hard to believe it took 6 weeks with still no decision. I'd suggest to email the High Commission in London, with the subject heading: Urgent, in case you haven't already; even though that didn't help my situation. I'm curious which passport and visa you have in the UK?

It doesn’t even look like they’ve started the eligibility review yet.... I’ve tried to email with no luck! I have an Indian passport with indefinite leave to remain. How about you?

Okay, we're pretty much in the same boat then. But I just don't understand how it could take this long. Well, let's keep each other posted on status updates!

Dear @Bryanna & @scylla:

It's been 44 days for @HK198433 and 26 days for myself since we submitted online applications in UK. I understand the latest processing time as of June 24, 2018 is 27 days.

Two quick questions:
1. Are these timelines normal at all? -> considering IRCC has not even been able to start reviewing eligibility in either of our applications!
2. Do we need to send a CSE with an updated Purpose of Visit -> considering the original purpose of visit to attend a wedding in Canada is no longer valid as the weddings are now over.

Hoping you guys would be able to comment. Thank you in advance for your time.

Processing times published on the IRCC site are only estimates. Actual processing would depend on the specifics of the application.

To answer your questions:
1. Yes, your current processing timeline is normal. That said, the London visa office gives decisions pretty quickly and we've regularly seen decisions in just one day (paper applications).

2. You can send a CSE not to inform IRCC that the wedding event has passed, but to request for an expedited decision as the processing time has exceeded the estimated time. Hopefully, your purpose of visit was not limited to the wedding and it included some plans for sightseeing, meeting family/friends, etc

Okay, I understand. Although,I'm not sure how @HK198433 would feel about 44 days as a normal processing time. But I should have sent in a paper application.

Unfortunately, my purpose of visit was really limited to the wedding, as that was the truth. Just a quick follow-up: Will it be a bad idea to update the Purpose of Visit: to visit the newly wedded couple and pass on my congratulations to their families + the ditto for one of my other sponsors, whose wedding I missed last summer too?

Thank you once again!

Can do. No harm in mentioning it.

While you're changing the purpose of visit, I recommend including a detailed day-by-day plan for your visit with expense estimates (for general sightseeing, meeting the new wedded couples, family/friends, etc)... instead of limiting the purpose to just meeting these couples

I just can’t believe it’s taken so long. The second wedding is on the 7th July, the families did 2 within a week so family from abroad could attend both! I won’t change the purpose just yet altho even with approval now i don’t think I’d get the visa in time to attend the second wedding. Atleast we now know paper based is the best way to apply I guess.

@dhillon and @HK198433 - I’m also applying via London to go to a wedding, albeit in my case the wedding is in the States, but for various reasons I had to book late with a transit in Toronto. Never would have expected that a transit visa would take over 3 weeks to process! My friends are asking if I can expedite in some way as the flight is on the 18th, but I really don’t think there are any grounds yet. Still, at the time of application the average processing time was 21 or 22 days, and the current trend is not very encouraging...
