TRV application at CPP Ottawa - Passport return

Friends...its been 25 days since my TRV Multiple entry visa application was received at CPP Ottawa Office, but I have not heard from them since then, they show 21 calender days processing time on website. I missed few key forms in my application and hence I was expecting it to be refused. Now I made my mind to have my visa stamped from my home country -India, but CPP Ottawa is not giving any updates on my application. I had sent missing forms by courier which reached there on February 5th morning,

I have my flight tickets booked for February 27th, 2013 noon...and I must make a trip due to emergency issues..I sent them emails, but they say that my application has been received and they are reviewing. I desparately need my passport back as I can't fly without it.

What should I do ...Can someone please advise ??? They sent me a reference number in email for my application but it does not seem to make much sense.
