Hi there!

My husband and son are Canadian Citizens, for some reason my immigration papers are delayed.
My husband plans to take me to Canada on TRV and then we can get a work permit there and maybe apply for In-process.

My questions are:
1) What is the duration of TRV and work permit?
2) Do they extend TRV?
3) Can my husband apply for sponsorship while I'm in Canada?

Thank you!

Each is different. It will be annotated in each paper.

Do they extend trv?

Trv is the sticker in your passport. You cannot extend the expiry date of the trv. If it expires you have to apply a new trv from outside of canada. However if you are in canada as a visitor and you wanted to extended your stay in canada for the reason that your sponsorship or pr application is under process and you want to spend all the time or more time with your husband/partner then you can extend your stay by making an online or paper application.
If you are in canada your husband can choose to sponsor you inland or Outland in both cases you can stay in canada by applying for extension to stay.

Hope it helps

You absolutely can extend your TRV in Canada. You would be filing a TRV - In Canada application. Simply searching CIC, you will find explanations on how to file. Your application would be submitted at the CIC office in Ottawa. You would need a TRV to enter Canada if you are from a country that requires it. If your TRV expires in Canada and you do not plan to leave, you can extend your status by applying for a Visitor Record. You would then have an expired TRV and couldn't leave and enter Canada unless applying for a new one.

Once in Canada, you and your husband can start the sponsorship application. OWP are issued 4 months after the application has been submitted. The OWP usually last the duration of the entire processing of the sponsorship application.

1. You can't apply in Canada to Ottawa for a new TRV unless you are either a student or worker.
