Canada is the biggest trading partner of USA and millions of US jobs dependent on this trade, I don't think anyone will cancel NAFTA..

Canada is the biggest trading partner of USA and millions of US jobs dependent on this trade, I don't think anyone will cancel NAFTA..

Don't forget those Canadians that were born here but left to work in the US after graduating universities, getting all the free education and childcare benefit while growing up in Canada , without paying a dime back - and people are frustrated about Canadian of convenience who actually have to contribute at least 4+ years of taxes before getting their passport

Actually most of the Canadian are skilled ( as all the skilled people migrate here ). If NAFTA cancel, there will be a huge job crisis in Canada. We know, most of our skilled people who don't have right job in some point dont have job.

If TN is scrapped, expect disaster for Canada. Yes there are Americans who work in Canada and vice versa. But there are way more Canadian working down south compared to Americans working up north. I personally know 4 people working on TN visa, all IT folks. TN visa has been a refuge for tons of IT folks who are still waiting for their GC. At least in IT, scrapping TN visa will mean spiraling wages.

Exactly, wages will be further reduced in Canada and I suspect the Loonie will fall further (lower remittances). I find it funny how Canadian Conservatives seem to be happy with this, considering how they look at the labor market as a zero sum game (more people, less wages).

First, NAFTA is not only a "TN visa". It involves tariffs on goods and many other trade deals.
Second, When a worker goes to U.S. , he or she pays taxes. So it is beneficial to the U.S economy, so why would Trump cancel that?
Third, it is clearly mentioned from the article's title, it is about renegotiating, not canceling.
And last but not least, the U.S IT market is vast, if you believe that Canada's "IT refugees" are really making any impact to the market, then you are certainly not very aware of the market size.

One more thing to remember, that before NAFTA, US and Canada had other trade deals, so even if the NAFTA "falls apart" (which it wouldn't), The previous trade deals will come back into effect.

As a Canadian, where things really might get impacted is on goods prices, as if things go wrong, there might be a spike on goods taxes and tariffs involved. (this is the worst case scenario).
