Hello,
I am TRP holder currently working in Canada.
When I received my TRP, I was inadmissible to Canada because of a DUI.
The sentence for the DUI has now been completed more than 10 years ago, but when I got the TRP, it hadn't been 10 years yet (It was 9 years and 9 months).
Now that I would be consider rehabilitated, is there a way to get rid of my TRP status and just have WP status? Or WP and PR status?
I have discovered being a TRP holder isn't really ideal.

It's a tricky question since even once the 10 years have passed, CIC still sometimes requires applicants to go through the rehabilitation process. Are you from a visa exempt or non visa exempt country?

Hi! I'm from the US.
I think in order to get my TRP, I went through the rehabilitation process and was denied, which is why I was granted the TRP... is that right?
However, now the time since my sentence ended has been over 10 years, so I am wondering if I have to go through that process again. If so, would I still be able to get rid of my TRP status somehow and just have my WP?

I would have thought you would apply for either a TRP alone or else for rehabilitation and subsequently be eligible to apply for PR upon being granted the rehabilitation. Its seems unnecessary to go for both as they are not both required.

Can I ask how long it took for your TRP to be processed and whether you applied while in Canada or from outside Canada? I submitted a TRP application 10 months ago and I am wondering how long more I will need to wait for a response.

you have already had a decision about this. usually takes 3-24 months. can you please share or update
