Trouble !

Hello all,
I need urgent urgent help.

I am a PR to Canada and an Indian national. I came to visit India in the month of april and had a return ticket to edmonton from new delhi.

My return journey was on may 01. But when I reached airport on the same date, airlines official (swiss) denied me boarding. They told me that my passport (indian) is expiring within 5 months & as per rule I should have atleast 6 months of passport validity. I argued with them that its for tourist visa (thats what I knew) and am PR to canada. But they didn't agree and were adamant that its only the rule. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I am really in a big trouble now as I have to reach canada asap.

Can anybody tell me how do I renew my passport from here? Is it possible?

Please please please help me. I am painicking. I feel I made a big mistake coming here and am stuck without my fault.

You are currently in India and you have a problem to renew your Indian passport in India? So strange!

yeah bcz i live in edmonton and have residence address there. how will they do verification for that addreess? i am so worried

there must be an embassy you can go that can expidite a new passport. generally embassy's can issue same day.

I am sry to hear abt ur situation. As far as i know the process can be tricky n will tk some time as they wil hav to transfer case to india embassy in ottawa; am not sure but its my idea

do you have a driver's license or perhaps you can access your bank statement that has your current address? there are many bills that are paid online these days, so perhaps you can verify your address there. i'm not sure why they would need to verify your address if you have a current government issued passport. it's still valid from what you say.

you are an indian national in india so they will verify your address in india not in canada,i find it strange that its an issue to renew your passport in your country of citizenship.

If you are in India now you must be staying somewhere. Just use that address.
