Hello All

I need some URGENT guidance!
I got my Canadian citizenship oath ceremony done in Jun-2022 and applied for my canadian passport in July, which hasn't come till now. I am due to go to India 25-October - 2022 for 3 weeks for my younger brother's wedding. My question is:
1. It takes 8 weeks minimum (as per BLS wesite) to surrender the Indian passport + 7 working days for entry visa. If my Canadian passport doesn't come till mid-october (taking into consideration the current waiting time), I don't have enough time to surrender and apply for indian visa. So what if I do not surrender my Indian passport and travel to India on Indian passport and on the way back I use my Canadian passport.
2. CGI Vancouver's website says, one can travel on indian passport after acquiring a foreign nationality but have to pay penalty at the time of surrender $343. Will the immigration officer at Delhi airport accept this explanation posted on Consulate wesite?
I know there are many threads posted around the same issue, but they are old. Older times when processing times were not this long and e-visa was an option.
Can somebody share some info or experience if they were in my situation recently?

Thank you

-PLEASE DO NOT USE INDIAN PASSPORT IS MAKE TO MUCH TROUBLE FOR YOU-
if you know brother weeding date why you deposit canadian passport application , like this case simple by refundable AIR CANADA flight tkt usa get passport 5to 7 days Most of time they provide passport you no have time to cancel tkt air canada have code shearing with air india you can convert tkt your desire date then you find lots of time apply surrender passport and visa
2- indian passport if have valid USA VISA you are fine come back by usa by road use your certificate for entry THIS NOT LEGAL OPTIOT but is works

Try to expedite your passport application(for example a bus or train ticket to usa etc, get refunded later)……then do your surrender thing etc is easier
Perhsps what you’re thinking is doable too but you may get hassle in india due to it.
Good luck, try to expedite your passport request asap!!

Not a great idea. If you are flying out directly from India, the immigration office will look for an arrival stamp on your Canadian Passport and an Indian visa. When they don't find it, you could be in trouble. To apply for an Indian visa, you DO NOT need to have a surrender certificate in hand.
We submitted an application for surrender and visa simultaneously a few weeks ago, so it is not a big problem.
If you show evidence, you can get a Canadian Passport within 48 hours.

Ultimately, the decision is yours but knowing Indian immigration, the last thing you want is hassles there.
