Travelling out of Canada for long time while on Work Permit

I have a valid Canadian work permit and visa up to Dec 2013. I entered Canada last year in July, stayed for 2 months and came back to India. I haven't been in Canada for last 8 months. Now I need to go back to Canada to work for the same employer. Can I enter Canada and work on the above given documents without any issue ? Please help as I need to let my employer know if I can travel. Thanks for the help

Is your TRV multiple-entry? If so, then presumably you have both a valid TRV and valid WP. With both these documents, you should be able to return to Canada to work. Just in case CIC questions why there’s such a long gap in employment, you may want to get a letter from your employer explaining the situation, confirming that they still require your services and for what period.
