No. PR card is taken away / destroyed as part of the oath process.

Thank you for your reply. Do you have a link to this info by any chance? Im just thinking maybe there is a grace period or smth that can be done in between.

Had you received the email invitation to take the Oath, you would have known the instructions and requirements to take the Oath. Cutting your PR card into pieces is part of the process. That's your info.

Its common knowledge. Even if you somehow get away with not cutting your PR card during the oath ceremony, using it to enter Canada will set off alarms as the card would be deactivated. Its like driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license, except in this case, getting caught is guaranteed when you swipe that card at the Kiosk when you're trying to enter Canada.

You are no longer a Permanent resident from the time you've taken oath and signed the oath form. You CANNOT use a PR card beyond that point. You'll be asked to cut it into several pieces (2 or 4 pieces, depending on the office) at the end of the citizenship ceremony.

If you still want proof for this common knowledge, read the PDF that is attached to your oath invitation email.

If you have citizenship where you can travel visa free to Canada, you can board a flight and use your driving license to officer to verify your status when entering.

Yes, so I have to co-sign on this one. I once lost my PR card in-between airports on my way back to Canada. Used it to board the plane, but didn't have it once I got to the other side. They did not refuse entry, they just had to verify who I was and I went on my merry way home.

If you can though, just wait for your passport. Will save you hassle and waiting around.

If you really must travel soon, postpone your oath. There are plenty of Mississauga applicants eager to take your spot.
No, definitely can wait with travelling. I had something planned, so I wanted to clarify here. But no for sure, i will wait then. No changing of dates for sure . Waited for 2 years since applying for this Mississauga office......

Wise choice so long as the travel wasn’t urgent or an emergency. You could still opt for express passport processing for a fee, I believe.
