Hi All
I have to travel to Saskatoon from India as a first time OR
I am choosing below two PNR
1) India to Toronto with Air Canada
2) Toronto to Saskatoon with Air Canada
Reason for choosing two PNR is that with two PNR, flights are very economical, instead of choosing 1PNR.But, since this is first time as an immigrant on PR, I fear no issue is done by Visa Officer? Second question is will I be able to check-in my baggage till Saskatoon?

Are you saying that you are buying the two flights separately rather than as one single ticket?

The visa officer won't care.

The issues you may face are that if your flight into Toronto is delayed or it takes a while to get through immigration and you miss your flight from Toronto to Saskatoon, you likely need to purchase another flight ticket. If everything is booked on the same ticket, then you can miss the flight and Air Canada would simply put you on the next available flight for no cost. However if you book these as two separate tickets, you are on your own if you miss your second flight. I would make sure you have an absolute minimum of 4 hours between the time you arrive in Toronto and the time you are scheduled to leave Toronto. More time would be better since immigration can take a while depending on the day and also to create a buffer for your flight potentially arriving late.

I don't think you will be able to check your luggage through to Saskatoon since you're not flying on a single ticket. I think you'll need to pick it up in Toronto and recheck it.

You won’t be able to check your luggage thru to your final destination if you’re on two pnr’s . This is too stop people from attempting to circumvent the MCT - minimum connection time set at airports

As I will be keeping 7 hours time between two flights so MCT is ruled out, but I doubt, if I request Air Canada staff at Delhi airport and they can book the luggage till Saskatoon by seeing my comfortable itinary?

No when I worked at the airport we never checked a bag thru if they were on two separate itineraries
Years ago we did . But the rules changed amongst all airlines

This won't be possible with two separate tickets. It doesn't matter how long you have in Toronto.

FYI information, you will not check bags through to Saskatoon. You will need to go through immigration/security, and then pick up your bags on the arrivals level. You will then need to take up your bags upstairs to the departures area and recheck bags with the agents. Then you will need to re-enter security. Some things to consider - time in immigration as PR, time to get bags from departure, the time it will take to recheck bags upstairs and then line up to go through security. If the airport is chaotic (weather, staffing etc.), it can take hours to get your bags and then hours to recheck your bags. This doesn’t include you landing and going through immigration. 7 hours may seem like a lot but it may not be.
