Traveling in and out of Canada while in the process of spousal sponsorship appli

I live in Buffalo, New York. I bought airplane tickets from Toronto to Europe back in January, 2017. My husband and I spontaneously decided to get married in April (we've been dating 6 years). We want to start the spousal sponsorship application, but I'm nervous that if we do I may not be able to travel to Europe. It'll be the first time I'll be home in over five years. If I have a letter from my employer saying that I have to be back at work a week and a half later, will I have an issue travelling to Toronto and flying back in to Toronto? Or should I hold off on the application till I get back?

I'm young (25), in love, and can't wait to move to Canada but i'm getting real nervous now. (First time doing any of this)

Are you planning on applying inland or outland?

With inland applications, it is inadvisable to leave the country until a decision is made on the PR as there is a risk that a border agent may refuse you entry and thus your application is forfeit.

With an outland application however, it is the experience of many forum members here that showing ties or proof of residency outside of Canada and that your intended stay in Canada is for a short period of time will allow them entry without issue.ie: within the validity status of your country, in your case I assume you are European and most EU countries have 6 month visa free status to Canada. Just make sure you get your ETA or you will not be permitted to board the plane.

I am planning to apply outland.

I am actually a US citizen, resident of New York state (I grew up in Greece). I am planning on taking a bus from Toronto back to Buffalo. If I have that ticket and the letter saying I have to be back in Buffalo, New York by the next morning for work will that be ok?

My other worry is them not letting me into Canada if I've already applied. Again I am planing on taking a bus from Buffalo to Toronto and will have my itenerary and possibly my tickets showing me leaving Toronto.

They shouldn't bother you if you are applying outland and your stay is genuinely only for a few days.

Then again, no one can guarantee if you come across a border agent who just wants to be difficult.
