#TravelHistory - Can a USA tourist visa make your profile stronger?

Hello all,

I had recently applied for a student visa and have received a rejection based on the below reason:

I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.

My ask:

I am working on my re-application and wanted to know whether we can mention about having an USA tourist visa and if that will help enhancing the profile?
If yes, how do we present across the travel history? Can we mention it directly in the SOP?

If anyone has any idea about this and can shed some light, it'll be very helpful!

Thanks in advance!

I am working on my re-application and wanted to know whether we can mention about having an USA tourist visa and if that will help enhancing the profile? You can show your USA visa but I am not sure that will be of a lot of merit here since that is a Tourist visa and you are asking for a Study visa. Both categories are different
If yes, how do we present across the travel history? Can we mention it directly in the SOP?
I had USA UK and Asian Travel history and I mentioned them all in my SDS visa application within the SOP

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
This is a generic refusal reason. Order the notes and find out exact reason of refusal and see how you want to address that

Share something about your profile and course choice here and we can see if something is very off with that

reason above is not about travel history. My guess is there is no academic progression in your study permit application... what did you apply? and whats your academic background?

> 10th in 2012 : 85 %
> 12th in 2014 :70%
> BE in Computer Engineering (Mumbai University) - 2014 to 2018 : CGPA of 7.32 / 10
>Working since 2018 until present : Currently holding a position of Associate Data Analyst
> IELTS 7.5 bands overall ( L:8.5, R: 8, S:7.5, W:7.5)

Documents Uploaded in file:
Resume,Offer Letter, Salary Slips, GIC receipt, College 1st year fee receipt, SOP, LOA of St Clair college,IELTS score, Marksheets (10,12 and BE)

Hey,

It's a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDM) and it's a 2 year course
I think this is where purpose of visit is, but notes will shed more light. Ideally, you have Degree in Computer Engineering but you want to study PG Diploma in Data Analytic. Will this program justify costs of travelling all the way to Canada and the fact that you are quitting your Associate Data Analyst position to spends thousands of $$. Last question would be why Canada? and not other countries including India where you work now? You need to build solid reasons to overcome those flags...All the best

Alright, I do understand your view here.
Although I had covered all these points in my SOP : especially why Canada and not India.
I believe I need to strengthen these points more. And yes hoping that I get the notes soon.
Thank you so much for sharing across your suggestions and thanks for the wishes too!

@Ashdeep Kaur I completely agree with the above points and this is exactly what you have to show/justify

You can PM me if you want to chat more

I held a BE in Comp Sci too and got my study visa approved for a PGD Course with 13 years gap.

See how you can explain your course choice better - You are already working as a Data Analyst. How will this course help you further your career ? What is it that you will learn in this program in the same field that you did not you learn while working in that domain for a good 4 years?

The notes will give you reasons but purpose of visit mostly is around unreasonable expenditure one will incur to study in Canada and how the outcomes outweigh your home ties and opportunities and hence the purpose of visit is not looking satisfactory to the visa officer. So long story short, with this purpose of visit, they do not feel you will leave the country at the end of your stay.

See how you can justify and approach this

Best of Luck with your re-application.

Thank you for your suggestions.
My agent says that refusal is because of not showing funds for 2nd year fees and expenses. What are your thoughts about that?

My agent says that refusal is because of not showing funds for 2nd year fees and expenses. What are your thoughts about that? I do not agree with your agent. If your funds were an issue, your visa would have also been refused on those grounds owing to your financial assets.

You have to start with identifying the right course to study in Canada and then work around how to justify that

Best of Luck
