I am "newly" landed roughly two and half months ago, but I still did not receive my PR card yet.
I booked a flight to US next month.

Considering the strike of Canada post, is it possible that I cannot get my PR card on time.

However, I was a student/worker in Canada, and the Visa/study permit are not expired.

I am wondering can I use the student visa to enter Canada?

If your student visa is not cancelled in your passport then you can travel. Otherwise you need to apply for PRTD.

even though the student visa is "not expired", more than likely it was cancelled as soon as you landed as a PR, so it's not guaranteed you'll be successful traveling on only the student visa when your current status is PR.

Any existing visas or permits were in fact canceled when you landed as a PR. Think about it: now that you are a PR, you don't need them anymore. ;)

The eTA requirement has been delayed until September. Just don't tell the airline that you are a PR of Canada.

however I am not from a visa-exempt country so I do need a visa to get into Canada if not using PR card...

Did you need a TRV to be in Canada?

Did you travel back to Canada with your old visa after PR?

did not try yet.

I found there is another thread in this forum, some guys did this before, use a visa travel to Canada by flight, and use CoPR to enter board. may get ask questions as this is not a proper action, but in the end, no big trouble.

So if I cannot get my PR card within 2 weeks, I have to do this. waiting for my PR card more than 3 months..

Your visa is invalid. Sometimes i've heard the airline just accepts any visa in your passport and doesn't really check further, so in this case you would be allowed boarding.

But if the airline can check status of passport with Canada on the spot, they will see it's invalid and will deny you boarding. Up to you if you want to take this risk, or you can apply for PR Travel Document which will guarantee you'll be allowed boarding.

I understand this. PRTD is not an option for me as I only travel for one week

It is like visa exempt people are travelling without PR card.
