Hi Guys,

I am asking same question again

  • Got my visa extented thru my current employer till May 2015 as "Worker"
  • Got my BOWP and resigned from my current employer
  • Now I have visa till next year as "worker" and BOWP but I may not have job

I got a situation and I have to travel to my home country for 2 weeks and return back to Canada. Will there be any issue when I return back if I don't have any job? Do I need to apply for visa again?

Best Regards,

As far as I know, you have to apply for a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) to get back into Canada.
It's an easy procedure and you can do it online.

The BOWP is just a 'Permit' and it does not allow you in.

Best of luck,

So even if I have multiple entry worker visa, it won't count. This is scary as I have to travel next week :)
Is there any email id or contact number where I could confirm this like CIC email id.

Best Regards,

@gskn4u: Your BOWP allows you to work IN the country, but does not allow you to ENTER the country.

So if you left the country, you still need a TRV to re-enter Canada and the BOWP allows you to stay and work in the country.

Having said that, you only need a TRV if you are not from a visa-exempt country, i.e. if you needed a visa the first time you came to Canada, you'll need a visa this time around.

On a side note, I obtained a TRV recently - I went the paper route and sent in my passport with the application. It arrived at CIC on Monday and they sent the passports back on the Friday. And I received it back on Monday so it took a total of 6 business days, mailing included.

200% you can travel back to canada without new one as you have a valid VISA and work permit until next year...
If you have ay doubt then call CIC call center and explain your situation...

+1 Agree.

I called CIC twice today and they confirmed the same.

I just need visa with validity and it should be multiple entry. It does not matter if I work or do not work.
