Hello All,
In the following case,

1- Both parents of infant child are Canadian PR living in Canada, And
2- Infant child is non Canadian citizen born out side Canada, And
3- Infant child in currently in Canada and dependent child sponsorship in process

Is it ok to travel outside if dependent child in currently in Canada and dependent child sponsorship in process? I know for Inland Spousal Sponsorship, generally it is advised not to leave Canada until Sponsorship process is complete but is it the same with infant dependent child sponsorship process?? Do they make any exception for infants?

It's a requirement that you be living in Canada while the application is processed (at least one parent).

For a short trip/vacation (e.g., 2-3 weeks), you are good. Leaving for a number of months or moving out of Canada temporarily puts the application at risk for refusal.

Thanks for your reply. This will be an "inland" dependent child sponsorship application as the (infant child will be in Canada). Can the child leave Canada for a short trip even though this is an inland application. Child is a US citizen so does not require Canadian visitor visa.

Thanks again for your reply. Last question.
In this case, I have 2 options.
1- I can apply for child's sponsorship after he moves to Canada. (Inland)
2- I can apply for sponsorship while he is in US. (and he can come to Canada after application)

Which route should I take? IS one faster than other?

Different from sponsoring a spouse, there is no inland vs outland for a dependent sponsorship. The sponsor needs to live in Canada. But there is no requirement for the applicant.

The only difference may be a Canadian office will be chosen as the processing visa office vs one at home country. But it's up to IRCC. (not optional nor a choice of the applicant/sponsor)
