Travel to the US & back to CAN with work permit & no TRV

Hi there,

I was hoping to get some clarification on travelling with a valid work permit but expired TRV. My sister has a valid Canadian work permit and wants to travel to the US for the weekend. Will she have trouble entering back into Canada if her visitor visa (TRV) has expired?

Yes without a TRV one cannot enter

She doesn’t really need a TRV (even if from a TRV required country) as long as you have a valid status in Canada and IF you’re only visiting US and SPM. She can get an eTA as well if qualified. You can look it up on the IRCC website
