Travel to India and back

Hi,

Not sure which thread to post in, hoping this will help. My wife, PR holder, is traveling to India in November, British Airways flight, with transit in London, on the way to Chennai (final destination). Return is from Bengaluru, in Jan 2022, on the same airways with transit in London, and then back to Toronto. Both ways the transit layover is for about 4-5 hours to catch the connecting flight.

As far as I know, she has to take a PCR test in Toronto and fill out the details on the suvidha app. The return has me quite worried, as I keep getting mixed information. Some people/websites say she cannot return on this route as UK is not allowing Indians to enter without proper visa or passport (UK nationals). And some mention that since it's just transit, she should be fine. And on the BA website, along with the Indian air bubble website, it says that as long as the spouse, accompanying or not, is a Canadian citizen, there shouldn't be an issue. When I spoke to BA agents, they couldn't give a definite answer and asked me to call the UK embassy in Toronto, and they never answered my calls.

Is there a site where I can get a definite answer or a person who can shed some light on this? Or someone who has traveled this route recently? I know the rules keep changing and most probably change a few times from the time she departs and returns. But, any input is appreciated.

Thank you!!

I would recommend that you read through the posts in the International Students section of the forum. There are a number of active threads there talking about travel from India, PCR requirements, and which airports are possible.
