Hey there i am planning to travel to India. And waiting for Canadian passport. Should I be surrendering my indian passport and getting visa or just travel on Indian passport ( then surrender it there i just became a Canadian) and come back on canadaian. Thanks for helping me out

You might have followed the OCI thread. Where they will discuss both Surrender & OCI together.
Anyway
You can not return with Canadian passport to Canada (you maybe able to return to India with Indian passport to India).
Whoever tried had to return to Local passport office and /or the Local FRRO for procedures and surrender Indian Passport and all. So just be simple. Fill form and submit it tomorrow right away for surrender by walk in to the BLS near by. Postal application add ups more weeks of delay.
Once you have Canadian passport and surrender, apply for Indian Visa and if you stay more than 6 months in India you can apply for OCI from India if not such long trip, come back and apply in Canada for OCI.
that's the best solution. You are allowed to submit for surrender with Citizenship certificate and without a Canadian passport. You need to write an explanation letter and give a copy of the passport application acknowledgement (if applied through Service Canada). Just letter also works.
