Hello! I am a returning student who has been studying in Canada since Fall 2016. My previous permits got expired in July 2020 and I applied for new permits in April 2020 from India. I have a questions regarding traveling to Canada in upcoming months once I get my new permits.

On IRCC website, it says that "you’re already living in Canada - If you’re already living in Canada, your return is non-discretionary." Does it mean my return would be non-discretionary too given I am a returning student? Also, I will be doing an internship (co-op) during Fall 2020 term and I am gonna have a contract which states that I must reside in Canada in order to work.

Are these points enough to travel to Canada (of course, once I get the new permits)?

You can enter Canada since you are not a new student and already have residential ties established in Canada. Make sure to keep your rental and/or residential lease with you if it ever comes up to prove.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I will sign lease before traveling plus I am gonna have a proper quarantine plan. Only thing I am worried about is that the new permit is gonna have issue date of after March 18th' 2020.

Again, that criteria may not apply to you since you are a returning student. Just keep your previous documents handy.
