Travel restrictions for those with a valid visa stamp and work permit?

I'm currently working full time in Canada on a PGWP (valid till Nov 2023). My student visa stamp is valid to Nov 2021. I'd like to visit my parents back home since my mom is terminally sick. I'm also fully vaccinated.

The CIC guidance is very confusing when it comes to foreign workers. One page says I need to have an "essential" job to be let back in, while the other page says i just need to prove I have a job I'm returning to.

So which one is it? And as proof of employment, I guess they only need an employment letter?

I applied for a new TRV last month, but the actual student visa on my passport is still valid. Can I travel with that or will I have to wait for a new one?I have my PGWP in hand already

You will have to check. Study visas are no longer valid once you have a PGWP.
