Hello friends,

First of all a big thanks to all of you for helping me out in clarifying my doubts regarding student visa. I have been granted visa :)

Now, will you guys please suggest me through which airline I should travel to alberta and what should be my travel plan.

Do we have any thread which mentions some pre-departure guidelines for students who are travelling for the first time like things to buy from India, Necessary precautions to take, how to handle things at the port of entry ?

If we do not have any such thread Can we start a discussion here.

The documents you need to enter Canada
The CBSA officer will ask to see your travel documents when you arrive in Canada. Make sure they are not packed in your luggage, and that you have them with you. This will help speed up your entry to Canada.

You should be ready to show the following documents:

1. a valid passport or travel document
2. the letter of introduction from the visa office that you received when your study permit was approved (this letter contains your permit reference number and the CBSA officer needs this letter to issue your study permit)
3. a valid temporary resident visa (if required)
4. a copy of the letter of acceptance from the designated learning institution at which you are accepted to study
5. proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada and
letters of reference or any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied.
Do not put them in your checked luggage.

If there are no problems at the point of entry, the officer will let you enter Canada and will issue your study permit. You should:

1. check the study permit to make sure your personal information is accurate and
2. check the expiry date on your study permit. You must leave Canada by this date

Thank you @[jaskaranjassal]

That was really helpful.

I would like to know a few more things regarding things(general items) that we should take along with us from India.

Any comment regarding appropriate travel plan for me is welcome :)

I hoped that more members will contribute as it will help every student travelling to Canada for the first time.
