Travel Outside Canada, while awaiting your PGWP (post graduate work permit)

Can one travel outside Canada and return back, when application for PGWP is completed but work permit is not yet approved ?. Has someone done it who can explain the process ?. What document are needed ?.

Do you have a valid TRV? Assume your study permit is no longer valid.

I do not know about TRV. Currently my student permit has expired. Am i eligible to apply for TRV?

A TRV is a visitor visa so you need to apply for one if you want to re-enter Canada.

If you are inside Canada, you need a TRV so yes, you apply for a visitor visa.

In my case I have expired TRV and I am outside Canada now but I have a valid PGWP but I want to return back to Canada in such case if I apply TRV the processing time shows very long like 5 months is this correct or I am selecting something wrong ? please guide

This is correct based on your country of residence. Sometimes TRV application takes longer. Good luck

Hi there! My PGWP is currently on process (applied June 25) and I still have my valid TRV until June 2023. My TRV is when I applied as a student and it says SW-1 since I have my coop/placement on my program.

I am planning to go back home on January 2023. If I received my PGWP approval before my target date to go back home, can I use my valid TRV? or do I need to apply for a new TRV since I am a work permit holder on that time?

Im in the same boat as you, did you end up travelling with your SW-1 visa?
