Hello Experts,

I am wondering if anyone had experience with purchasing travel insurance?
My parents are planning to travel for about 5 months or so to Canada and i would like to purchase insurance for them.
Please let me know what are the top picks and what companies to avoid.

Thanks,

What is important is reading the policy and understanding what is covered and being very accurate with any medical history questionnaire. Would suggest more than 100k coverage which people have been known to sometime exceed while visiting on a supervisa. In general I assume any insurance company will likely go through your medical history to try to deny a claim especially large ones.

Thanks! So are insurance companies just a scam? They can find any excuse to deny even a small claim if they want

Not a scam but it is a business who would prefer not to pay out larger claims if they don’t have to. People also don’t do a great job reading the fine print or giving a detailed description of their medical history. To be fair most have a longer medical history than used to be the case and all mostly recorded in electronic records so much easier to mis these days. Insurance companies rarely spend the time and money reviewing your medical history for small claims.
