Travel insurance while visiting Canada on a TRV.

My mother will be visiting Canada on a TRV for 2months in the month of April,2013, she is 75 yrs old, please can anyone tell if she would require Travel Insurance and from where should it be purchased India or Canada since she will be travelling from India. Will they ask her at the airport if she has travel insurance with her.

Please advise.

It is not a requirement, BUT can you afford the daily hospital rates if she (heaven forbid) ends up in the hospital? Buy the medical insurance, either India or Canada, whichever is cheaper.
