Only health insurance is mandatory for International Students Travel insurance is optional but if you will fly out and will be making long/multiple layovers, it would be good to buy travel insurance...

not sure about all the universities but normally health insurance is added to ur fees and once u register for classes u r given a health insurance card. this all happens once u reach canada....

Yes you can buy travel insurance to cover you in case of emergencies especially between the time you arive and your Canadian health insurance kicks in. It is not required but a good idea.

Health insurance varies slightly by province in most it will be automatically added to your school fees, your school will explain how it works.
