Travel information needed when work permit expired and the processing time is very close and I am stuck in India.

Hi there! Would greatly appreciate your input on an important question.

My brother’s work permit is expiring in October and his PR application is under process from last 3 months…

*He has to travel to India in the same month(October) for 18days.

*He will be coming back from India by the end of October. And that is the last month of processing time. So he might be receiving eCOPR by then.

*If we apply for work permit extension or bridge open work permit, it will get invalid if he receives eCOPR while he is still in India.

What could be the options while returning to canada, If he doesn’t receive eCOPR by then…or if he receives eCOPR?

He would need a valid TRV to return to Canada.

If he is NOT in Canada, he CANNOT receive eCOPR.

He will need to submit his passport to visa office to get stamp and copy of COPR. Then land physically in Canada.

part of the virtual landing involve confirming if he is physically inside Canada. If he is NOT inside Canada, he cannot land virtually. (i.e. the eCOPR that you talked about)

I have no idea what immigration stream he is applying under. So I don't know if he needs to be inside Canada during the process.

Also he will need a valid TRV to re-enter Canada if he wish to end of October. Implied status are not valid any more once he left Canada.

Leaving canada on 11th October
Work permit expires on 25th October

What he can do before he leave Canada so that he can return safely. Should he apply to bridge open work permit before work permit expires?

Situation 1) Can he come back in the last week before his work permit expires? May be 2 days before it expires.

Situation 2) Can he come back once he receives a message to confirm the address and presence in Canada and then reply he presence in Canada to that e mail? He might have a week to reply to that email right.

His status work permit won’t be terminated once he receives a notification from IRCC right until he confirms?
