If travel visa/stamps were marked in both old and new passport for last 10 years, is it "mandatory" to provide both passport? coz I saw passport section is only require the current & valid one. so I'm a bit confused it is necessary to upload the old one as well (since I lost my old one, it's difficult to upload both to play safe) .. is there any issue if I just upload the current one?

Current valid passport must be uploaded.

You've answered your own question - CIC only asks for a current and valid passport so just upload that and breathe easy. Good luck.
