Travel History - How do you list one-way trips and relocations?

Hello guys,

How should we list one-way trips (i.e. relocations)?

I have a couple of one way trips so far. For example, from my country of origin to Holland (which was my country of residence for some years), then, I moved to Spanish islands and then again to the mainland.

So I wonder how should it look like in the Travel History sheet?

example tickets:
03/04/2010 - 07/04/2010 - country of origin to Holland
20/06/2010 - one way trip to Holland, where I relocated. However it's impossible to list it as a one way trip.
18/08/2011 - 22/08/2011 - Holland - country of origin - Holland
12/11/2015 - Canary Islands, Spain one-way ticket
16/03/2017 - Madrid, Spain one-way ticket

Thanks a lot!

Relocations are not trips and should be included in your address history. Also, if Holland was your country of residence, trips to your country of origin do not need to be listed in your travel history.

The only serious ambiguity that I see in the CIC requirement is that country of origin is not clearly defined for someone who was born in one country but whose nationality is of another country.

For example, consider this hypothetical case. I was born in country A and am a citizen of country A, then I moved to country B at the age of 25, and finally at the age of 30 I moved to country C where I currently live. I travelled between country A and country B between the age of 25 and 30, and between country A and country C since the age of 30. I haven't been to any other country in my life.

In this case, my travel history would be empty. But I will have three entries in my address history, assuming I did not move within the same country.

But honestly I don't know what someone should do if he/she was born in A but is a citizen of B and currently lives in C. Does he/she need to include trips between A and C or trips between B and C in the travel history? I have no idea.

If you mean you flew from home - country1 - country2 - home, then put the exit dates of the countries.

Well, my case is like the first one you gave, except that I've also travelled from country B to C, D and E between age 25 - 30, and while still resident of country B.
However, I thought that the explanation on the Travel History page (not to include travels between country of origin and country of residence) applies only to your current country of residence, and that I should list the trips from and to my previous country of residence.

No, not really.

I flew from
home - to country 1 - home => 4 days return ticket
after that
home - to country 1 (one-way ticket) and stayed there for a year, became a resident

after 1 year I flew from
country 1 - to home - to country 1 (return ticket)

I have a couple of other flights from
country 1 - to country 2 - back to country 1 (return ticket)
country 1 - to country 3 - back to country 1 (return ticket)
country 1 - to country 4 - back to country 1 (return ticket)

and after a couple of years I travelled from
country 1 - to country 2 (and stayed there, I am practically a resident of country 2 now)
This one I think I have to mark as ongoing.

Put entry and exit dates for each country. I did the same as I spent 2 years in NZ.

Explain it as best you can and then add details in your LOE, as that is what that's for.

Hi all,

Trips: Are these business trips also to be listed with dates? for how many years back? I travelled (at least earlier), every or other week globally, since 2000! Am I supposed to have a record of all the trips?

No. It applies to your country of residence at that time. So you have had several countries of residence. But at any moment, you had only one country of residence.

Same ambiguity for trips on country of origin and residence. People interpret in different ways, and even if one wants to fill this voluntarily, there is a confusion taking a particular country as reference to list the trip!

I had similar confusion when I filled my form.

So my current country of residence is US, and origin is India. Last year, I had four month visit to India due to personal reasons (while still be employed in US) when I renewed my passport. So I had no other option than listing Indian address as addresses lived for those four months as my passport was renewed with Indian address. For all the other previous vacation, I kept US address in address history.

I flew back to US again after four months on May 4, and then I again took a trip to India at the end of May and came back by June end. I kept US address as residence for that period. Since country of residence and origin remained the same for a brief period of four months in last year, I wasn't sure if the travel history could be left empty. So, I listed all my trips before that four months to US. But that left me with no option of listing my current trip, so I ended up including every other trip to both countries as employment and personal trips.

I hope the entire point of asking this is check what PCCs are required, and I have included PCCs for both countries appropriately (Indian PCC after leaving India), US PCC within 6 months. Only time will tell if what I did was right or wrong!

OP, you could do the same way I did if you feel it is right. Even though you relocated to Holland, you could still list the trip between 20/06/2010 and 17/08/2011 to Holland as a trip for employment, and 18/07/2011 to 22/07/2011 as a vacation trip to country of origin, and so on. That way you could cover every trip, and just mention in LOE that you have included every trip taken with your passports.
