Hello, just wanted to update you guys. Got the passport request for my parents today along with an email from the visa office saying that it’s approved. Hope you guys get your visas soon!

Hey, I honestly just put that their son is a PR and the trip is for family reunification but in my opinion I think it got approved simply because it’s been 5 months and the VAC in my country has opened. I don’t think it was related to the exemption.

Did you mean u received reply to the ircc exemption email that u sent after 2 months with passport request because they stated they will reply in 15 days to this email.

I have also written to IRCC on the same email ID. I am having WP status in Canada and trying to get my wife here asap. May I know if you have managed to get the authorization letter?

@KunalC please share. When did u apply? & did u get approval? Are u exempt from travel restriction under essential travel?

Yes - everything is taking more time right now.

You should expect that IRCC will deny the exemption and say that your parents' reasons for traveling to Canada are non-essential.

Immediate family members of PR/citizens are exempted from travel restrictions under family reunion.
