Travel Document application and COPR

Hi all

I did my landing a couple of months back and came back to US. In order to re-enter Canada, I applied for a travel document. This morning I received the travel doc stamped on my passport. However, the original COPR doc I sent with the application has not been returned.

Is this the general rule or was there a mistake? Can anybody share their experiences? I am worried because I don't know if the COPR doc would be needed in future (for citizenship etc).

The COPR document is actually pretty important. You need it to apply for citizenship and way later on down the road you need it for apply for old age pension. You can always apply for another one but I think you should have gotten your original copy back.

I just have been able to contact Canadian consulate and they are going to send me back the COPR document. By the way, I anyways kept a scanned copy of the COPR always
