I have my oath ceremony (Winnipeg) on Nov 2. I am aware that my PR card will be destroyed and that I will need to wait for my citizenship certificate before I can apply for my Canadian passport. We are hoping to travel to UK for Christmas and stay for a few months, so potentially might not have my passport in time, even with an in person application.
Does anyone know if it’s ok for me to travel on my UK passport to get to the UK and then obtain my Canadian passport once in the UK?

You can, as long as you bring your certificate with you and apply in the UK, but keep in mind that the process is a bit different. Another option is to request expedited processing of your certificate and then your passport. You will probably need to justify the reason and show proof of ticket purchase. Good luck

In addition to @engray 's answer, there's another alternative for you :
If for some reason you can't get the passport before you leave, nor get it from UK, you can actually enter Canada with your citizenship certificate by land if you fly with your UK passport to US...
Not like you'll need it since you'll stay in UK for a few months (more than enough time to apply for a passport from there), but for the sake of giving you the complete picture... :)
