Travel - Alcohol Limit?

Hello, I have a friend who is travelling from India to Toronto. She is saying she is unsure how much alcohol she can bring into Canada.

She is travelling from Mumbai to LAX with her family with Qatar Airways, and then from LAX to YYC with Delta.

Qatar says 5L limit, and then Travel Canada says 1.14L for alcohol or 1.5L for wine.

What is her actual limit? its very confusing..

If Qatar is final destination, they will allow her to enter the country with 5L. If Canada is the final destination, they will follow their own rules and only allow what they state on their website.

The limit is 1.5L of wine and that is exempt for people returning to Canada and who have been outside the country for more than 48 hours. Is she returning to Canada after being away? If so she can bring in 1.5L or two bottles of wine into Canada without paying duty. She can bring in as much wine as she wants. She just needs to declare it.

1. Since she is going to Canada it is 1.4 litres
