Hey everybody I needed an advice as I am applied for my pr under pnp in march and I am excepting to to get my pr approx. end of October and I have plans to go to india on December 12 what should I do please....I heard you cant travel until you get your pr card... so what are my options? and what should I apply for before leaving the country and I don't have temporary visa only have a work permit ....please your advice is highly appreciated thanks

in the ame situation. need seniors advice !

You can certainly travel before you receive your PR card. If you hold a non-visa exempt passport, then to return to Canada, you either need a valid PR card or a valid travel document. If your PR card isn't available yet, you will have to apply for a travel document from outside of Canada.

In my view once you do your landing , you are provided with a immigration document by the officer. You can use that immigration document to enter Canada again. That's my assumption.

I have already sent my passport to CPP Ottawa office 2 weeks before after getting PPR, but I am also confused as I most likely need to make a trip to India in November or December but PR Card processing time is 69 days and I can't take chances.

Does anyone know what is the procedure to apply for travel documents if we don't have PR Card and how long it takes to get them ?

Can travel abroad after getting visa stamped on passport but not done landing/ PR Card ?

Thank you !

From what I know, here's what you can do if you live in Canada, have received your CoPR, immigration visa in your passport and have NOT completed your landing. You can take your CoPR, all the required documents needed for landing, travel to India or anywhere you want outside of Canada (assuming you have appropriate Visas to that country :) ) and then complete your landing procedure on your way back. You usually have about a year's time to complete the landing (check your CoPR and immigration visa for validity). You do not need any additional travel documents/ Canadian visas if you are landing for the first time with the CoPR, Immigration visa and the required documents.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
