Hi guys!

I know that for any document, which is not in English or French, I should provide:
- the English or French translation; and
- an affidavit from the person who completed the translations; and
- a certified photocopy of the original document.
The question is, should I translate the original document or the certified copy?

The certified copy.

I've seen many cases where uploading the translation and originals are accepted but you wouldn't be following IRCC's guidelines.

What about other documents, for example diplomas from universities. Do I attach certified copies of those or originals?

  • A clear and legible copy of the biographical data page of a passport or travel document must be provided.
Does this mean a certified copy of the passport? Or is scan itself considered a copy?
