Hi everyone,

I've got a copy of my wife's birth certificate but its entirely in Chinese, and I'm wondering if this should be translated into English. Can anyone give me some advice on this?

If so I'm not sure where to go here in Canada to do so.

Thanks for any help you can give

I think you will find that documents need to be in French or English.

You could check out google and type "canada chinese translation services"

I think I'm in agreement. Can anyone else comment on whether there's a specific place I should be going to have something translated? IE, something recognized by the government.

It has to be translated. Official documents should be translated by an 'certified' translator. If you're in a big city, this will be easy to find. Where are you?
The following is the translation association in Saskatchewan, which has certified Chinese translators.

Thanks for the reply,

Toronto, London or Kitchener / Waterloo are nearby me.

Is there any kind of official list that one can access to find accredited/certified translators?

Residents of Ontario may be interested to find this site for certified translators:

http://www.atio.on.ca

It is quite easy to find certified translators here and some have replied to my inquiry emails within an hour.
