Translation for stamps in passport required while submitting the application?

Hi all,

Hope you are doing well.

I am waiting for my PCC before I gather docs and submit the application. While reading some of threads, I came across the one regarding the translation for visa stamps in passport for non English & non-French language. I have a few stamps from South East Asian countries (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia) some of which which may need translation.

Can someone please advise if the translation is needed while submitting the application? or it is needed for the interview (for the final stage of application)?

Do you know how long it takes to get the translation done? And any recommended resources for the same? In that case, will I be submitting copies of all my stamps pages in passport in the application? I heard people only submit the bio- pages only?

I can't answerabout place and time it takes to get stamps translated as I didn't have to do it but they have recently changed the citizenship application requirement and now you have to scan all pages of your all passports that were valid during your eligibility period. Before you just had to submit bio page only

Like yasir22 said, IRCC has updated the requirement now, you need to submit all your passport pages and if anything there is not in English or French, the requirement is also to translate them.

From CIT 0007E document check list you can read.
Colour photocopy of all pages in your passport(s) or travel document(s) during your five (5) year eligibility period, including the biographical page which includes: name, photo, date and place of birth, passport/travel document number, issue date and expiration date. • If your passport validity was extended, include a photocopy of the page(s) containing the extension stamp(s) • If you do not have a travel document or passport, provide an explanation in question 14 of the application form.

Translations • If any of the document you are submitting are not in English or French, consult “Step 4 – Complete the application form” in the instruction guide

In that case, I will need to translate my non-English visa stamps to English.

On another note, for address history - CIC mentioned "You don’t need to include addresses of family, friends, hotels or resorts where you stayed while on vacation."

So would it be okay if I show my Indian address for the dates while I was on a vacation?

No. For the duration of your vacations, you can simply enter your residential address in Canada as long as that was your primary residential address.

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated! Please see below my scenario, its a little complicated -

My Scenario –

• Became PR in Nov,2017
• Left Canada right after 10 days to spend some time in India and travel around because I quit my job so wanted to use that time for long term travel, so I didnt have permanent home address
• I did some trips from India (in & out) in whole 2018.
• I came back to Canada on Feb,2019. So I was out of Canada for 14 months.
• I did my calculation and I spend around 193 days (not consecutive in a row though) in India during that time from Nov,2017 – Feb,2019
• And I spend some time ranging from 5 days – 20 days in few different countries.

My question is – Is that okay if I put Indian address for all my trips as I did all my travels from India? I did backpacking trip in SE Asia for 4 months continuously and then went back to India and did a few more trips.


Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Yes, in that case, you can enter your residential address in India (since you did not have a primary residential address in Canada at the time).

So in that case, is it wise to check 'Yes' for spending 183 days in a row? or I can attach an explanation letter stating that I did not spend 183 days in India in a row but I spent the most time there since I cannot add temporary travel addresses as recommended by CIC. Yup in your case, it would be wise to check "Yes" for spending 183 days in a row and submit an Indian police certificate with your application.

On another note, I just had to renew my Indian passport which is brand new without any stamps. So just to confirm I should only submit color copies of bio pages for my new passport. I mean I dont need to print copies of blank pages, correct?
And for my expired passport, colour copies of bio pages and all pages with stamps.
