Transit visa

Hi everyone.
I am from SriLanka, and I am hoping to fly to Canada on 28th. I have the student visa stamped on passport.
I booked my tickets and I have to switch my airports in London .(Heathrow to Gatwick). I have just 5hrs waiting time.
My worry is do I need to get a transit visa?
If some one clarifies me I'd appreciate it.

I think yes. Usually people change gates at heathrow itself and for that they don't need uk visa .

Thanks. Some says that I don't need because I leave before midnight. And layover is just 5hrs. Not sure what to Do .thanks abyway
