Hello,

I am a permanent resident of Canada and going to India for a short trip. My flight is from Vancouver to London Heathrow to Mumbai. In this process, I am going to change terminals at heathrow airport for my flight connection. Do I need a transit visa for UK even though I am not going to go through customs? Please let me know at the earliest.

Thanks in advance.

Nope... they have internal transportation, that will take you from one terminal to the other. You will not pass through immigration.

If for some reason (god forbid) they have to move you to a hotel, due to a missed flight, your airline will arrange the visa for you at Heathrow airport.

Just to be safe, ensure there is enough time between your transit flights.

Regards,

Thanks Riz! I have sufficient time between flights.. approx 9 hours.

yes Indians need a transit visa when passing from Heathrow airport.
I was denied At boarding when,i was coming dubai -heathrow- brasil with British airways.
For which i Have sue them.
Take All information regarding from the airline respectively.

As you're a permanent resident of Canada, your PR card will serve in lieu of a transit visa. So as long as you don't need to leave the terminal to catch your connecting flight, you're good to go without a transit visa for the UK.

For a more detailed explanation, see my post here:

Dear All,

Trip went smooth. Here is the procedure that I followed and it can used by others for their travels.

1. I called UK embassy in Vancouver to find out what exactly is needed
2. They told that if I am a Permanent Resident or Citizen of Canada, then I do not need a transit visa even when changing terminals at Heathrow airport. However, I will need a transit visa if I am a Permanent Resident and not yet Citizen if I have to change airports.
3. I carried my Canadian PR Card and Indian Passport during my travel and everything went smooth.

Thanks for inputs from all of you.
