hii friends,

if i travel from mumbai to winnipeg via toronto, will i need transit visa to stay at airport of toronto for 16 hours ?
i am taking this flight bcz i might be asked many questions at toronto as my case is different ..it may take more time at toronto airport while facing border officer..

i have valid student visa on my passport..will i need transit visa to stay at toronto for such a long duration?
please reply as soon as possible. thank you.

I guess yours studies will start in sept . Just dont go too early .
actually, i got student visa last year for fall-2017 intake but i couldn't go there due to some personal problem and my that course has only fall intake..so i took admission for fall-2018 intake and my previous visa will expire on 30 july,2018 while my course will start on 20 august,2018..i had applied second time for visa in march 2018 and got refusal in april-2018..i was confused if i can travel to canada based on my previous visa ..so i applied again for visa while having previous valid visa..now i am left with only this option to go to canada on the basis of previous visa and if they allow me to enter in canada, i will apply for study permit extension which may take upto 37 days..i am going early just because of this reason..i don't know what will happen with me on toronto airport as i have both refusal as well as approval status..they may send me back from toronto also..

I would suggest that you apply for another extension asap. Given that your visa expires before your classes begin you will likely not be admitted. Being in Canada will not increase your chances of getting an extension especially given your previous extension refusal.

If you finish earlier I would approach the airline and see if they would put you on an earlier flight at no cost if there is space. Doesn't hurt to ask since you should be through immigration/customs much faster than 16 hours.
ya i will ask them if my immigration check completes fast..i am taking such a long hault at toronto just because of my complication of my case so that i don't be panic if it takes more time ..i read on cic that border officer may forward complicated case to minister's deligate also ..there are 2-3 stages for complicated cases..so i am taking this flight

can i apply for extension from india?

can i apply for extension from india?

Yes. Just to clarify. Did you defer your admission in the fall? If you failed to show up and didn't notify the college your student permit would have been cancelled. Why did your extension get refused on March?

i had withdrawn my admission after getting my TRV and before start of fall-2017 and then in january -2018 i applied for re-admission in the same course and same college and i got admission in february-2018 ..then i paid full fees of first semester and re-applied for student visa on 24 march-2018 and got refusal on 26 april,2018 stating your intended studies are not in the light of your previous studies, employmet, missing marksheets and establishment..i didn't change anything in second application including course, college and i had not withdrawn my gic also since last one year..

i had already informed college last year that i would not be able to come canada due to personal issue .can it lead to study permit cancellation?

i think for study permit extension enrollment at college is necessary..i never went to canada..being in india, how will be i able to get enrolled in college?

Yes if you withdrew your application the school should have informed CIC that you were not a student and your visa would have been cancelled. You don't have a valid permit or CIC should have mentioned it in your refusal letter. You need to apply for a new study permit. If nothing has changed since your first approval I would reference your 1st application.

ohh i see..but i asked regarding this to immigration department of college authority before my second application and they told you can come to canada based on your previous TRV..they also told that just present your new acceptance letter and passport to border officer..why didn't they tell me that you had withdrawn your admission so your visa has been cancelled and you would need to apply for new study permit..

i got same reply like yours from some agents also and that is why i didn't take risk at that time and applied for new study permit.

i applied for new study permit but they refused and didn't tell exact reason. they refused the same application which they approved last year.

staus of my first application is still showing approved in my gc key account..i think it could have changed to cancelled if cic had cancelled my visa due to withdrawal of admission..i checked today and it is still approved while another application status is refused.

So maybe they deferred your application. Did you tell them to postpone your admission or cancel it? No matter what you need to extend your visa. You can't arrive with a permit that ends in July and show admission for August. That means you don't have a permit.
