I called the embassy just about 30 minutes ago and the representative said it can take even months. He added that 19 days is only an estimate, but honestly speak he had no idea himself what he said, poor customer service. My travel date is 27th December l, but even if my application is approved I won’t go. I am done with it. I am going to call my bank and even dispute the visa application fee.

Yes, when I was buying Air Canada tickets, I didn’t realize that I was buying lots of stress. I thought I have plenty of time since the average processing time posted for Transit Visa was 19 days. Now, we are preparing to buy expensive last minute tickets from another airline. Very horrible experience, Canada Airline should do something about it.

@paragkshah have you received any response for your application or emails? Sorry, I know it’s a lost cause for you, but I don’t know what I should do for my case. I think I will go ahead and rebook tickets with another airlines. Other flights on my date are getting expensive as I wait more. Please let us know if you have any updates on your application by any chance.

Maybe do not book any ticket until you have your actual visa, your choice of course but Canada is no different to any other country as far as visas are concerned where the advice is always not to make any travel arrangements until a Traveller has all the necessary visas in hand.

You dont need a transit visa if you are just passing by via toronto in transit.
If you are not leaving the airport and not passing through immigration then you do not need a visa.
Did you travel using Air Canada and how was the experience?

Hi @Nkj222
It's now been 5 weeks since I applied and that is about 25 business days and I haven't heard back from them at all. I was supposed to fly with Air Canada a week ago and I had to cancel my ticket and book another with another airline. I STILL haven't hard back from them. It's pointless now but I was hoping that they would at least have some courtesy, if nothing else, to respond to my emails and messages about the visa status. It is crazy that they have taken this long to process a transit visa! In any case my ticket was non-refundable so I cannot get my money back for my cancelled flights.
I am not sure if the 15 business day time line that they say is even true as for me it has been 25 business days. If anyone else has received the transit visa then they should please reply to this post so that people have at least a fair idea of what the situation is right now. I hope you have better luck than I did with your transit visa.
Cheers
Canada is the only country on this earth who has such insensible visa office. Visit Visas take 6 months sometimes, who the f waits 5 weeks for transit visa!
