Transit using COPR without PR card

canuck_in_uk/ Scylla - May I ask you the source for what you are stating about transit through Canada into USA/any other country for permanent residents? I cant find any information other than the usual transit visa.

Departure airport - I have US visa to show which is my destination.
Transit airport - Wont my COPR work? if I have the onward ticket on the same day.

The CORP is only a valid travel document the first time you use it. After that it is no longer a valid travel document. You need a valid travel document to transit through Canada. If you were not a PR then you would apply for a visitor visa. Since you are a PR - your choices are a valid PR card or a valid Travel Document.

There are some non visa exempt countries where transit without a visa is possible. India is not one of these countries: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/twov/travellers.asp
